My Built-In Bestie: MOM!

My mom and I have had a close relationship for as long as I can remember. She is my mentor, biggest supporter, and best friend. Due to the current worldwide pandemic, she is also the person I have been spending the most time with. In this post, I am going to write about what we have been doing recently and some valuable lessons I have learned from her.
The Cure for Boredom
As you all know, now more than ever, boredom can be a real problem that we all face. A lot. Although being stuck at home is not ideal, my mom and I have tried to make the most of it. We enjoy going on walks, reading Francine Rivers books, and learning new, delicious recipes to keep busy. But on the not-so-productive days, we love to binge Netflix shows. Fun fact about my mom: she hates cliff hangers and has to know how the story ends. Due to her need for closure and my ability to stay up late, we sometimes won't go to bed until 2 a.m. I mean, I think it could be considered a skill by now.
Road Tripping (Kinda)
Although binge watching, reading, and cooking are a blast, our favorite pastime is driving around Wichita while talking. If I'm ever having a bad day or just need someone to talk to, my mom is always ready with her car keys in hand and the perfect pep-talk. My mom has taught me many valuable life lessons, most of which were probably while driving around. The most important thing I have learned from watching and listening to her is to trust God with everything. She has told me thousands of times, "It's going to be okay. This is not our home." My mom has shown me what it looks like to truly surrender your life to Jesus and to trust God with all your heart.
